Initial Consultation

do You really need it?

Yes, it is a prerequisite for a treatment using Soft Tissue Therapy treatments.

1) As a therapist, I must make sure there are no contraindications to the treatment I provide to you. In some rare situations, massage treatment is completely contraindicated. Occasionally, there are local contraindications which allow therapists to apply a variety of techniques as long as they are not affecting the given area of concern (e.g. acute inflammation). All comes down to the duty of care - I need to know your health to make sure I don’t put you at risk with treatments.

2) If you have a health issue related to the musculoskeletal system, there is always a reason for it. The source of the problem may not be obvious (e.g. you have shoulder pains due to muscular imbalance resulting from an ankle injury that happened a couple years ago). I need to get a ‘big picture’, do subjective and objective examination followed up by relevant special tests. Next, comes a treatment plan based on clinical reasoning. This plan is continuously adjusted for each person, each case and each session. There are no two treatments that would be the same as there are no two identical people.

client consultation form

Please download the Client Consultation Form (clicking on the name) and fill it in before the treatment - preferably a few days before your appointment.

If you answered ‘Yes’ to any Question in the section ‘Medical Conditions / History’, please contact me ASAP to discuss it further.

I can also provide you with the form during the Initial Consultation. Filling it in during this appointment will take a bit of time - which could be used for examination and treatment. If after reading the form I realise that treatment is contraindicated, I will not be able to help you, while the appointment fee would be still due. This would be extremely disappointing for both sides, and I want to avoid it as much as possible.
